Geometric Probability: Problems with Solutions

Probability as a ratio of lengths, areas and volumes: random points in segments and figures, two random numbers, meeting problems, with solutions.

Problem 1
A computer program generates a random number [tex]x[/tex] from the interval [tex]\left[0, 1\right][/tex], all numbers of the interval being equally likely. What is the probability that [tex]x[/tex] lies between [tex]0.30[/tex] and [tex]0.42[/tex]?
Problem 2
A circle is inscribed in a square. A point of the square is chosen at random. What is the probability that it lies inside the circle?
Problem 3
A number [tex]x[/tex] is chosen at random from the interval [tex]\left[4, 38\right][/tex], all values being equally likely. What is the probability that there exists a triangle with sides [tex]8[/tex] in, [tex]15[/tex] in and [tex]x[/tex] in?
