The length of the rectangle is one more than the width. If the dimensions are both decreased by 2 units, the area of the new rectangle is 30 sq. units less than the area of the original rectangle. Find the area of the original rectangle.

$$l = w+1\\ (l-2)(w-2) = l w - 30\\ (w-1)(w-2) = (w+1)w-30\\ w^2 -3w+2 = w^2 + w - 30\\ 32 = 4w\\ w=8\\ l=9\\ area = l w = 72$$
