|x| can mean x can be x or -x. But if it is x, there is no solution (x = x +1 does not give any solution). So assume -x. then -x = x + 1 or 2x = -1 or x = -1/2. To check
|-1/2| = -1/2 + 1, which is correct.

Here is my solution:
  • If [tex]x=x+1[/tex], we can't find [tex]x[/tex].
  • If [tex]x=-(x+1)[/tex] implies [tex]x= \frac{1}{2}[/tex]
So the answer is [tex]x= \frac{1}{2}[/tex].
