Rewrite [tex]4^{x-1 }[/tex] as 2[tex]x^{2(x-1) }[/tex], as 4=2²

[tex]2^{x}[/tex]=2[tex]x^{2(x-1)}[/tex]
As the bases of the equation are the same, the exponents can be set equal
x=2(x-1)
x=2x-2
x=2
