Rewrite 25 as 20+5 and 17 as 10+7
25*17=(20+5)(10+7)
Use FOIL:
(20+5)(10+7)=(20*10)+(5*10)+(20*7)+(5*7)
=200+50+140+35
=390+35
=425
25*17=(20+5)(10+7)
Use FOIL:
(20+5)(10+7)=(20*10)+(5*10)+(20*7)+(5*7)
=200+50+140+35
=390+35
=425
