A. -3(x-1)=8x-6
Use the distributive property: -3x+3=8x-6
Simplify by combining like terms: 11x=9
x=[tex]\frac{9}{11}[/tex]

Check:
-3([tex]\frac{9}{11}[/tex]-1)=8([tex]\frac{9}{11}[/tex])-6

-3([tex]\frac{-2}{11}[/tex])=[tex]\frac{72-66}{11}[/tex]

[tex]\frac{6}{11}[/tex]=[tex]\frac{6}{11}[/tex]

B. 4(x-6)=9x-60
Use the distributive property: 4x-24=9x-60
Simplify by combining like terms: 5x=36
x=[tex]\frac{36}{5}[/tex]

Check:
4([tex]\frac{36}{5}[/tex]-6)=9([tex]\frac{36}{5}[/tex])-60

4([tex]\frac{6}{5}[/tex])=[tex]\frac{324-300}{5}[/tex]

[tex]\frac{24}{5}[/tex]=[tex]\frac{24}{5}[/tex]
