Dimensions - Part

Dimensions - Part

Postby Guest » Wed Jan 07, 2015 12:04 am

A block of wood, with all dimensions being 1 yard, is sawn vertically through the middle from front to back, vertically through the middle from right to left, and horizontally through the middle.

Calculate dimensions of one of the parts.

Block of wood - 1 yard long, 1 yard wide, 1 yard thick.

How do I solve ?

My attempt :

The wood is 1 yard = 3 feet = 36 inches in length, width, and thickness.

Since the problem indicates the wood is sawn through the middle each time:

First part - 18 inches, 18 inches, 18 inches.

Second part - 9 in., 9 in., 9 in.

Third part - 4.5in., 4.5 in., 4.5 in.

I think that there are two equal parts, which volumes are 36*36*18
