want to convert mile measurement on a ball 8000 miles in diameter to inches on a ball 8.5 inches in diameter
ex: 200 miles distance on large ball to scale equivalent in inches on small ball. need formula for multiple distances

I worked it out using a simple ratio.
The big sphere’s diameter = 8000 miles, the small one = 8.5 inches.
So 1 mile =
8.5
/
8000
≈
0.00106
8.5/8000≈0.00106 inches on the model.

For 200 miles:

200
×
0.00106
≈
0.2125
200×0.00106≈0.2125 inches.

I just double-checked the mile → inch part on MyCalSuite (handy for quick conversions), and the numbers line up. Pretty small distance once you scale it down!
