Roberta is making gift bags she has 36 bars of soap and 24 bottles of lotion how many bags can she make using all the bars of soap and bottles of lotion with none left over

Assuming an additional constraint that all bags must have identical contents ...

This is equivalent to finding the greatest common divisor of the components. Because if you have n identical bags, then each one has 36/n soaps and 24/n lotions, and both of those must be whole numbers. The GCD of 36 and 24 is 12. Which corresponds to 12 bags of (3 soap + 2 lotion).
