2 docks are 40 meters apart. A crest of a wave hits each dock. 3 more crests are in between the docks. How long is each wave?

The length of a wave is from one crest to the next. Here there is a crest at the first dock, three crests between docks, and a crest at the second dock. So that we have one wave length from the first dock to the first of the three crests, a second wave length from the first to the second of the three crests, a third wave length from the second to the third of the three crests, and a fourth wave length to the second dock.

That is a total of four wave lengths over 40 feet so each wave length is ? feet?

You said that the two docks were 40 feet apart. The first response to your post showed that there were 4 waves between the two docks. So how long was each wave?
