Percentage Calculation not accurate

Percentage Calculation not accurate

Postby Guest » Wed Mar 25, 2015 7:04 am

Hi,

I have weird problem,

My Value is
Say X = 10,125,000.00

and I add 5% X ( 10,125,000.00 ) is
506,250.00

So sum is 10,125,000.00 + 506,250.00 = 10,631,250.00

10,631,250.00 is final value i will be charging to customer.

But sometimes we have to give fixed value to customer and my 5% is not removable.
Say the final value is 10,125,000.00.

So if i want to achieve X + 5% ( 5% of X ) is 10,125,000.00 means.. how to achieve ? How to find the X amount ?

Example....
Say example 1000.........5% of 1000 = 50 ..OR 1/20 of 1000 = 50...so if you add it on the total is 1050
The 1050 is now 105 hundredths of the original OR 21/20 of the original. .....1050 now contains 21 parts.... 20 + 1.

If 1050 then becomes the amount you are dealing with and want to take 5% of it......it is not 50
5% of 1050 = 52.50 and when you take that off you are left with 997.50

If you want to get back to original 1000 from 1050 you need to take of 1/21 of 1050 and that = 50.
1/21 is equal to 4.762% ......not 5%

Not sure what this bit below means....explain...............................
But sometimes we have to give fixed value to customer and my 5% is not removable.
Say the final value is 10,125,000.00.

Hi,

let me explain this way

100 + 5% of 100 = 105

if i want to achieve

X + 5% of X = 130

who would be the value of X ?

If..... X + 5% of X = 130 .......How would be the value of X ?

The above can be written X + 0.05X = 130

X(1+0.05) = 130

OR....1.05X = 130

OR X(105/100) = 130

as stated in earlier post your 130 now contains 105 hundredths 105/100 ....OR 21/20

So that means to get back to original 100% then.... X = 130/1.05 = 123.81

And it means 123.81 + (5% of 123.81) = 130
