Help Splitting The Bill

Hey so I'm booking a Vegas room for 3 nights in March and would like to make sure everyone pays the same amount.


Including myself there are 5 total guests whom need to make payment for the hotel.

The grand total out the door is \$3718

I payed the deposit in full at \$1519

I understand if we all went an even amount to begin with the total between the 5 would be $743 but since I payed the deposit in full how much would they have to pay extra to even the playing field?


The conclusion i had come to was 3718(total) - 743(my cut) = 776 (what i payed extra)

then 776 / 4 = 194



to only realize they'll be paying a total of \$937 each and i'll be down at the original \$743.



but now that i think of it, since i payed more when paying for the deposit, that additional \$194 they'll each pay helps cover my extra but im getting confused.



Can someone help me so we'd all pay an even amount.

The total cost of the room is \$3718 and you have already paid \$1519 as deposit. So, the remaining cost is \$3718 - \$1519 = $2200.

Divide the remaining cost by the number of guests (5) to find out the per person share: \$2200 / 5 = \$440.

Now, if you want everyone to pay the same amount, each person should pay \$440. So, the other 4 guests should pay \$440 each, bringing the total to \$440 x 4 = \$1760.

I know this is old, but this is how you should have done this...

The total was $3718.00. That means everyone owed \$743.60.

Since you had already paid in \$1519.00 as a deposit, that means you paid in \$775.40 in excess of what you owed. (Hopefully, you received this amount back from the other people.)

After you paid the initial deposit, the hotel was owed \$2199.00 and you were owed \$775.40...all to be paid out from the remaining four people.

Each of the remaining four people should've paid the hotel \$549.75 and paid you \$193.85. This means each of the four other people would have ended up paying \$743.60. (\$549.75 to the hotel, plus $193.85 to you, equals \$743.60.)

And, you would have also ended up paying \$743.60. (Initial deposit of \$1519.00 paid to the hotel, minus a combined \$775.40 paid back to you from the other four people, equals \$743.60.)
