Struggling to understand what I would apply here to solve th

Hello everyone,,

I'm going to put this in broad terms just because I don't want to post the actual question.

How would I go about solving something that looks like this:

log*ax + ylogx*a = z

If that makes sense. In the first part I have a log to the base a, and the second part is to the base x.

Is there some kind of technique for this? I've tried a whole bunch of things with the question I have here but just at a bit of a loss.

[tex]log_ax+y log_xa=z[/tex]
[tex]log_ax+\frac{y}{log_ax}=z[/tex]
[tex]\frac{log^2_ax}{log_ax}+\frac{y}{log_ax}=\frac{zlog_ax}{log_ax}[/tex]
[tex]log^2_ax+y=zlog_ax[/tex]
[tex]log^2_ax-zlog_ax+y=0[/tex]
If you let [tex]p=log_ax[/tex], you can solve it with quadratic equation.
