Do you not know what a "logarithm" is? if [tex]y= log_a(x)[/tex] then, by definition, [tex]x= a^y[/tex].

So if [tex]y= log_2(x- 2)=[/tex] then [tex]x- 2= 2^y[/tex] and [tex]x= 2+ 2^y[/tex].
