FYI: 'Cleaning up space:
As humans continue space launches, they are creating more and more space junk. There are now hundreds of millions of pieces of debris orbit the Earth. Here’s why that is a problem

Can we stop (a temporary ban) sending more satellites/stuff (weapons, etc.) into low orbit around Earth?

Can we clean up the space junk in the low orbit... with that temporary ban in place?

Active removal: This involves using specialized spacecraft to capture and remove debris from orbit, either by pushing it out of orbit or bringing it back to Earth.

Passive removal: This involves designing new satellites and other objects in space to be more easily deorbited at the end of their useful lives, reducing the amount of debris that accumulates over time.

Space debris mitigation: This involves designing spacecraft and launch vehicles to minimize the creation of debris, for example, by ensuring that rocket stages and other objects are designed to break up and burn up upon re-entry into the Earth's atmosphere.

International cooperation: This involves working with other countries to establish common guidelines and standards for space debris mitigation and removal, as well as sharing information and resources to address the problem.

Research and development: This involves investing in new technologies and strategies for dealing with space junk, such as new propulsion systems and materials that are more resistant to impacts and debris.
