Arithmetic involves constants (variables), while math also has variables that can take numeric values. Math differs from arithmetic in the use of abstractions, such as using letters to stand for numbers that are either unknown or allowed to take on many values.

That's very strange! It talks about the "line between mathematics and arithmetic". There is no such line! Arithmetic is a part of mathematics.

Another peculiar thing is that it says "arithmetic is interchangeable with mathematics" but "mathematics is not interchangeable with arithmetic". Apparently this person does not know what "interchangeable" means! If "A is interchangeable with B" then it must be true that "B is interchangeable with A".

Okay, there is no line. Sorry! But that’s like me saying there is and difference between U.S. traditional division, DMSB, and Long Division. They are all the same thing. If you have more questions like this, try talking to your teacher. I’m guessing you’re pretty young so you only have one or two teachers. . . And maybe next time try doing a REAL question.
