The world needs Math, yes of course it does. Each and everything depends on math. Right from being able to count money in our daily lives to the astronauts sent into space, everything requires Math. But there are two things which are always taught as a part of Math in school, for which I can really find no use at all:
1. Long Division. I mean, how often do we see people using long division in their adult lives? We were told in school that long division was meant for those occasions when we needed to divide large numbers and we don;t have a calculator at hand. But then, right now, each one of us probably has a minimum of at least 3 or 4 devices within arm's reach, capable of doing all types of division, long, short or otherwise.
2. Logarithms. We were told this would be used for
all types of things. Log of base 10? That's important in engineering. Log of base 2? Oh, that's important in computer science. And log of base 'e'? Well, it's considered to be one of the most
beautiful numbers in the universe. Oh really?!
