Moving Average Line of Best Fit

In most cases, data will follow a linear, polynomial, exponential, trigonometric, or other type of function patterns However, there is not always a set function pattern.

For example, the time it takes to reach a stop on the subway can be modeled as y=mx+b, where y is the total time, x is the number of stops, m is the time each subway stop takes, and b is the time it takes to walk to the station. However, the subway does not stop in even increments. The slope is not always constant, yet it would not make sense to model the situation with other functions.

As the slope is not constant, a simple moving average can be used to find an equation/function model

There is no set formula to find the simple moving average line of best fit, however the average of all values in the data set can be calculated by [tex]\frac{p1+p2+p3...+ p_{n} }{n}[/tex], where p is the individual data points and n is the number of data points

In the case of the subway example, the slope of the line can be demoted by the average value for the simple moving average slope

Your ability to tale a real-life situation, in this case my own, and turn it into a math problem is simply genius. Are you working on the moving average?

Eigenvalue talked about a moving average to find what is needed to complete the solution. Are you familiar with the concept of moving averages?

The formula can be used to find an average of all the data values; the average can.br I used a s a slope value for a line of best fit
