Hi, I am trying to calculate the probabilities of various scenarios of the numbers game 49s, available to bet on in most British bookmakers.
There are 49 numbers in total with 6 numbers being drawn every draw.
I want to calculate the probability of selecting 1 number and that number appearing in the 6 numbers drawn. Also the probability of selecting 2 numbers correctly, 3 numbers, 4 numbers and 5 numbers.
I know that there are 13,983,816 different combinations of 6 numbers which could be drawn from 49 numbers, but don't know how to calculate how many of those combinations contain the number 8 for instance, or how many combinations contain both the number 8 & 9.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Paul
