Cube Root Function

Determine f(x) = [tex]\sqrt[3]{x}[/tex] is even, odd, or neither.

Let x = -x

f(-x) = [tex]\sqrt[3]{-x}[/tex]

f(-x) = -[tex]\sqrt[3]{x}[/tex]

f(-x) = -f(x)

If f(-x) = -f(x), the function is odd.

When x becomes -x for the cube root function, the end result is that the function is odd.
