Well the do you adree that if the side of a square is "A" then its area is "A" x "A" or A^2......

Do you agree that if the Total of all the boards used to fence a square all around is "B" then the Total boards used on 1 side only is B / 4 because there are 4 sides to the square.

Also if there are 4 boards in each panel, one above each other, then the total number of boards that make up the bottom board ( or "rail" or "run" ) only in the panels on 1 side of the square is (B / 4) / 4 = B / 16.

And if each of these individual boards is 11 feet long then the total length of 1 side of the square is [(B / 16) x 11] feet.

"Well the do you adree that if the side of a square is "A" then its area is "A" x "A" or A^2......" Yes.

"Do you agree that if the Total of all the boards used to fence a square all around is "B" then the Total boards used on 1 side only is B / 4 because there are 4 sides to the square." Yes.

"Also if there are 4 boards in each panel, one above each other, then the total number of boards that make up the bottom board ( or "rail" or "run" ) only in the panels on 1 side of the square is (B / 4) / 4 = B / 16." I don't understand why the bottom board was used.

It does not matter which board on each panel was used......You must not understand these statements.?
What the statement is trying to say is.....What is the fraction of all the boards makes up one "run" or "rail" of single boards from each panel placed end to end along one side of the tract of land.

"if there are 4 boards in each panel, one above each other, then the total number of boards that make up the bottom board ( or "rail" or "run" ) only in the panels on 1 side of the square is (B / 4) / 4 = B / 16."

There are 4 sides to the tract of land so B / 4 will be all the boards on each panel along one side, and (B / 4) / 4 = B/16 will be one of the boards from each panel along one side of the tract of land. And each one is 11 feet long
