multiples of 12 = 2x2x3

Multiples of 10 = 2x5

Hence LCM of 12 and 10 is 2x2x3x5 = 60

Hence LCD = 60

Now fractions will become as (9*5/ 12 *5 ) and (5*6 / 10*6)

Nitpick: 2x2x3 are the factors of 12, not "multiples".

The first thing I would do is reduce 9/12 to 3/4 and 5/10 to 1/2. The least common denominator or 3/4 and 5/2 is 4.
