Alignment of Cue & Object balls and pocket on snooker table

Postby Guest » Thu Sep 19, 2019 8:32 am

I am new to playing snooker. I have trouble aligning the cue ball with the object ball so that I can pocket the object ball. Too often I do not pocket the object ball. I have tried drawing the different angles on graph paper but I have found this method too inaccurate. I believe this problem of alignment is a geometric one and geometry may help me better visualise correct alignment on the snooker table.

The best thing to do is to imagine the straight line from the center of the pocket through the center of the object ball. Try to hit the object ball, with the cue ball, at the point where that line comes out of the object ball. To do that, imagine the straight line from that point on the object ball through the cue ball and hit the cue ball where that line comes out of the cue ball.
