Tan of angle (point of large triangle) is 3 /8
Tan of angle (point of small top triangle) is 2/5

3/8 is not same as 2/5 so sloping side of large triangle is not straight

And it should be 12 units for large triangle...5, 12, 13 triangle

But when you add the sloping side of the 3/8 triangle and the 2/4 triangle you get 13.93 units

so the pieces do not add up

No, I slipped up, last post, I looked at the 5,12,13 triangle the wrong way, the sloping side is 13.93....so I was wrong, but the side is not straight

If you take the 5, 13, 13.93 triangle as a right angled triangle as your starting point........
The point angle is 21.04 degrees.

Then the 3 / 8 triangle needs to be approx. 3.08 / 8 to give same angle as 21.04.

And the 2 / 5 triangle needs to be 1.92 / 5 to give same angle as 21.04

It all about the accuracy and errors in the calculations..............
