Graphing Piecewise Function

Graphing Piecewise Function

Postby nycmath » Fri Sep 04, 2026 10:47 am

Precalculus
Michael Sullivan
Edition 10
Chapter 2, Section 2.4

Graph the given piecewise function by hand.

My steps:

1. Make a table of values for each "piece".
2. Graph each "piece" separately.
3. Graph both "pieces" on the sane xy-plane.

See attachment.

Yes, this is correct. In the future, you may want to consider denoting the domain and range of each piece of the piecewise function; in this case, it is easy to tell as there is only a removable discontinuity (hole) at (0,0).

True but Sullivan does not ask for removable discontinue in a precalculus textbook (that I recall). Thanks for your input.
