This is just a sum of two functions. Since V(x) counts the violent crimes in year x and P(x) counts the property crimes in year x, the combined total is

T(x) = (V + P)(x) = V(x) + P(x)

The domain of T is the set of years x that are in the domain of both V and P.

For example, if in year x there were V(x) = 1,200 violent crimes and P(x) = 8,500 property crimes, then T(x) = 1,200 + 8,500 = 9,700 total crimes.

Very good. Very easy. Very well.
