Net income means income minus taxes, so this one is a difference of two functions. Since I(x) is the income before taxes in year x and T(x) is the tax bill in year x,

N(x) = (I - T)(x) = I(x) - T(x)

The domain of N is the set of years x common to the domains of I and T.

For example, if in year x a person earned I(x) = \$70,000 and owed T(x) = \$12,000 in taxes, then N(x) = 70,000 - 12,000 = \$58,000 in net income.

This was a tricky one for me. Your guidance is greatly appreciated.
