(d) Head wind of 100 mph: x = 500 - 100 = 400
C(400) = 100 + 40 + 90 = $230.00
Notice the pattern: a tail wind raises the ground speed and lowers the cost per passenger, while a head wind slows the plane down and raises the cost.
