Determine whether each relation represents a function.
For each function, state the domain and range.

Although 17 is not highlighted, I think it's important to show why it does not represent a function.

Question 15

Person = domain

Birthday = range

An element of the domain CANNOT be assigned to two elements in the range. When this happens, we have no function. The relation in question 15 clearly represents a function.

Domain = {Elvis, Colleen, Kaleigh, Marissa}

Range = {Jan. 8, Mar. 15, Sept. 17}

What do you say?

Question 17

Domain = Hours Worked

Range = Salary

The relation between Hours Worked and Salary is not a function because one element in the domain is assigned to two different elements in the range. We can see that 20 hours has been assigned to two different salaries.
When this happens, there is no function. Considering that question 17 does not represent a function, the domain and range will not be listed.
