Matrices Questions

Postby yobacul » Thu Jan 28, 2021 7:00 am

I am working out a particular exam question (attached below). I've managed to work out what he wants i.e. XYZ and YXZ BUT I am finding hard to understand why the first option is better than the second. I've got [tex]\frac{1}{50}[/tex] [tex]{40p+34f \choose 10p+16f}[/tex] and [tex]\frac{1}{50}[/tex] [tex]{25p+19f \choose 25p+31f}[/tex]

Teacher said the one on the left is better and he explained it using inequalities. But why did he ignore the second row? Not understanding the interpretation. Can someone help? Thanks in advance.

This isn't a matter of mathematics so much as language! Do you understand what is meant by one being "better" than the other? What was the teacher's goal in doing this?
