Costs

Carbon-steel rails are to be used to construct 6 miles of track.

Weight of rails - 129 lbs. per yard.

Cost- $28 per ton.

Calculate total cost.

6 miles = 10,560 yards.

10,560 yards * 129 = 1,362,240 lbs.

1,362,240 / 2000 = 681.12 tons.

681.12 * 28 = 19,071.36

Where did I make the miscalculation(s) ?

I think I found the error. I forgot to add the other rail.

19071.36 * 2 = 38142.72
