Need generalized equation for Bahama Shutter stay-arm length

Hi,

I am wondering if someone can solve this for me. It has been bugging me for some time now. I put the question under Triangles in this forum because I think it is a right-triangle problem but I am not positive. If it is in the wrong section, my apologies, please move it.

The problem is easier to descibe in a picture, so I have attached one here. See attached image.

I have thought about this further and added side designators ABC and the fact that C = 1/2A.

Corrected A=SQRT... to A^2=SQRT
