Amount (Gallons)

Postby Guest » Sat Mar 06, 2021 12:57 pm

A leaking faucet, with one drip per second, wastes x gal. of hot water per month.

Check my calculations:

1 month = 2592000 sec.

2592000 drips.

1 drip is approx. 0.05 ml. = .00169 oz.

2592000 * .00169 = 4380.48 oz.

4380.48 / 128 = 34.22 = 34 gal.

Where did I miscalculate? Number given is more.

calculations are fine.

Maybe a drop is bigger?

Maybe they are using 31 days?

An average drop is 0.05 ml

31 days is a little over 35 gal.

Don't know how their answer is obtained.

Thanks.
