Hi guys.
Who can answer these number questions.
Which numbers are rational?
Which numbers are irrational?
What is the difference between rational and irrational numbers.
martosss wrote:Rational are all numbers, which can be expressed in the form [tex]x\frac{p}{q}[/tex], where [tex]p\in Z,q\in Z_0[/tex]. That means p is a whole number, q is also a whole number, but cannot be 0.
An example for rational numbers is [tex]6,\: \frac{1}{2},\: 0.3,\: 0.333(3)(which\: is\: \frac{1}{3}) \: and\: so\: on[/tex]
Irrational numbers on the other hand cannot be expressed in the form [tex]\frac{p}{q}[/tex].
Examples are [tex]\sqrt{2},\: \sqrt{5},\: \sqrt{23}[/tex] and so on.
Pi is an example of an irrational number.
