Area, Weight

Postby Guest » Sun May 29, 2016 11:30 pm

A steel plate has the following description:

A = 10 in.
B = 2 in.

Thickness = 1/4 in.

Determine area and weight.

Steel weighs .283 lbs. per cu. in.

Illustration attached. (Note: I was only able to attach one side of the plate. The file was too large to attach the full illustration).

My attempt:

Area = length * width

8 * 8 * .25 = 16 cu. in.

16 * .283 = 4.528 lbs.

Where am I correct ?

Yes, I think your solution is correct but still I'm little bit confused.
