Math Video Problems - Algebra

Postby Guest » Mon Jan 11, 2016 1:33 am

I've created and posted a bunch of math video problems at: SATMathVideos.net! Hope this helps!

You might want to double check your answers, I randomly clicked on video 104 and found the answer to be incorrect.
You missed the vertical tangents between "1 and 2", and, "2 and 3" (in fact these 2 tangents are even explicitly stated in the question).

Hope this helped,

Clicking on another random video 130, I found the grammer to be confusing and ambiguous
It's "twenty-four" not "twenty four"
"one divided twenty fourths" does not make sense
Also "twenty fourths" could mean "1/4, 1/4, 1/4, ..., 1/4" which means you are taking the average of 22 numbers not 3.

Hope this helped,

R. Baber.

Sorry, forgot to mention in my first post that there are also another 2 missing tangents between 1 and 3.
(Also I made a few grammatical typos in my second post, grammer's correct spelling is grammar for example.)

Ah thanks! I fixed Video 104. There are 10 tangent lines.
I also fixed Video 130. Hopefully my wording is less ambiguous!
I appreciate the attention to detail!
I plan to add comment boxes for all videos so people can write these kind of comments on the video page itself. Coming soon!

Would you explain video 9 and 23 in more detail ? Thanks.

I don't plan to go back and add more commentary to the videos themselves, but if you have a specific question I'd be happy to reply

Video 9 : What does the 240,000 mean ?
I don't understand calculations for the constant.

Video 23 : You said the calculations involved proportions. Did you multiply straight across or cross multiply ?

Thanks.

Good questions!

Video 9: I just made up the number 240,000 to create a plausible relationship between book cost and book sales.

Video 23: In the final equation, I multiplied the 3R by the other two terms so that my final answer would be 10G.

Hope that helps!

Thanks. That helped.

I understand video 23 now.

I am still not clear on this step for video 9: a = 240,000 / b = 20p.

Like I mentioned previously, that equation is not in Video 9. You're changing a minus sign to an equals sign.

Corrected equation:

A = 240,000 / B - 20P

I don't understand how you obtained this equation.

I just made it up to create a plausible relationship between book cost and book sales. I'm happy to answer new questions, but not repeat questions.

I wasn't asking a repeat question. I didn't understand the steps from b = 240,000 / 20p + a to a = 240,000 / b - 20p.

1) multiply by 20p+a
2) subtract 20pb
3) divide by b

Another Cool Trick:

If you want to create a link to a specific video (not Video 001), say Video 072, just add this to the end of the link: ?vid=072

Here's the full link to Video 072 if you want to try it: http://www.satmathvideos.net/pages/index.php?vid=072

Hey guys, where are you taking all these videos from? Please suggest me a few sources. My work presupposes some waiting time during the day. And I like to play with my smartphone at such moments. I am in https://postcodefinder.net/scotland/glasgow . Are there any free resources with funny videos accessible from my area through mobile? Please share your findings, I will appreciate it a lot.
