Area - Screen

A rectangular window frame has the following dimensions:

Length - 4 ft. 4 in.

Width - 2 ft. 2 in.

The frame is to be covered with screen, with an additional 1 in. wide piece of screen around the outside of frame. Determine area of screen.

Area = Length x Width

My solution:

4 ft. 4 in. = 4.3333 ft.

2 ft. 2 in. = 2.16667 ft.

1 in = .08333 ft.


4.3333 x 2.16667 x .08333 = 7.824 = 8 sq. ft.

Where am I correct?
