Scale Model

Postby Guest » Sun Oct 04, 2015 7:21 pm

A model car is produced in the ratio of 1 in. to 1 ft. If one type of model is 1 ft. 4 in. in length, determine the size of the actual vehicle.

I know the example is similar to the scale on a map - 1 inch = x miles.

My attempt:

1 in. / 1 ft. = 16 in. (1 ft. 4 in. converted to inches) / x

1 * x = 16 * 1

1x = 16

x = 16 ft.

Where did I make the error(s) ?
