Two squares of carpet has the following descriptions:

One is 44 feet more round.

One is 187 square feet more in area.

Determine dimensions of each.


Let squares = A and B.

Area of circle - pi x r^2

Area of square - s^2

How do I proceed ?

your question states 2 squares of carpet....so I assume both are square in shape if they are squares..??

One is 44 feet more round......I assume you mean 44 feet around....meaning 44 feet around the perimeter edge.

So one of the squares... is 44 divided by 4 = 11 feet length of sides which gives an area of 121 sq. feet and the other is 187 square feet more which gives 187 + 121 = 308 sq feet.....Take sq root to find length of sides = 17.55 feet

So one is 11 feet sides and other is 17.55 feet sides.............
