Weight of a fraction of a sq. ft. of any material can be determined by a few calculations:

A sq. ft. of iron 109 / 1000 of an in. thick.

Weight: 4.36 lbs.

To the nearest one hundredth of a lb., calculate weight of a sheet of iron of this thickness measuring 11 in. by 9 in.

109 / 1000 = 0.109 in. thick.

11 * 9 = 99 sq. in.

11 sq. in. (? of 4.36 lbs.) = ? The first two ?'s inside parentheses are a fraction.

9 sq. in. (? of ? ) = ?

------------------------

99 sq. in = ? lbs.

Not sure how to complete.

144 sq. in=4.36 lbs
So $1 sq. in= \frac{144}{4.36} \approx 0.03028 lbs$

$99 sq. in×0.03028 lbs/sq. in=2.9977 lbs $
Anwer 3lbs
