A coffee cup has the following dimensions:

Height- 8 cm.

Top diameter- 10 cm.

Bottom diameter- 6 cm.

Calculate volume in cm^3 and convert to ounces.

It is a cone with the point cut off
The radius reduces from 5 to 3 for height of 8
That is ratio 2 : 8 or 1 : 4
So point will have to reduce from 3 to 0 at same ratio
So 1 : 4 = 3 : 12 so point of cone is 12cm high
This leaves the big cup full cone height = 20 cm
Volume of coffee cup part = 1/3 x Pi x [(5^2 x 20) - (3^2 x 12)]
Equals... 1/3 x Pi x (500 - 108) = 1/3 x Pi x 392 = 410.55 cubic cms. = 0.41055 litres

Confusion "ounces" is it "ounces weight" or "fluid ounces" is it "US or UK measures"

So for US fluid ounces = 33.812342 x 0.41055 = 13.881657 ounces.

and for UK fluid ounces = 13.881657 / 0.9607625 = 14.448583 fluid ounces
