A square cover plate's sides are 5 mm longer than another square plate.

Perimeter of larger plate- 352 mm.

Calculate perimeter of smaller plate.

Thanks for your help.

Let x equal the size of the sides of the smaller.
Then larger is x + 5 each side.

So..... 4 ( x + 5 ) = 352

x + 5 = 88

x = 83

AAaaaaaaaaaaahhhhh....I didn't calculate the perimeter of the smaller

So......Smaller perimeter is 4 x 83 = 332

....You see I didn't read the question correctly....

All I had to do was take away 4 x 5 = 20 from the perimeter of the larger.

So...... 352 minus 20 = 332

....... even more simple

Perimeter of a square is 4*side of the square

Use this formula to solve your problem
