Number of Cubic Feet

Postby Guest » Sun Nov 20, 2022 5:12 pm

2 parts of cement, 5 parts of sand, and 9 parts of rock / gravel are used under heavy buildings. In the proportions 1:2:5, 1 barrel of cement, 9 cu. ft. of sand, and 20 1/4 cu. ft. of rocks / gravel.

Determine cu. ft. of concrete.

Unsure how to solve.

To determine the total volume of concrete, we need to add up the volumes of the individual components (cement, sand, and rock/gravel) that are used.

One barrel of cement is equivalent to 5 cubic feet.

So, the volume of cement is 1 x 5 = 5 cubic feet.

The volume of sand used is 9 cubic feet.

And the volume of rock/gravel used is 20.25 cubic feet.

Therefore, the total volume of concrete is 5 + 9 + 20.25 = 29.25 cubic feet.
