This is from the help for excel starter when I googled it on the web.....so dragging should work for fill down or fill across....

Enter the data

Click a cell, and then type data in that cell.

Press ENTER or TAB to move to the next cell.

Tip To enter data on a new line in a cell, enter a line break by pressing ALT+ENTER.

To enter a series of data, such as days, months, or progressive numbers, type the starting value in a cell, and then in the next cell type a value to establish a pattern.

For example, if you want the series 1, 2, 3, 4, 5..., type 1 and 2 in the first two cells.

Select the cells that contain the starting values, and then drag the fill handle Fill handle across the range that you want to fill.

Tip To fill in increasing order, drag down or to the right. To fill in decreasing order, drag up or to the left.

I tried that. It doesn't work.

You must select the 2 start cells, then hover over the dot in the bottom right hand corner of these 2 cells until the curser changes from a white cross to a thin black cross, then drag that down the column

I finally got my piece of junk to work. I select cells, when the white cross changes to the black cross, right click, drag, copy cells.

In my version the above line just copies the selected cells as you would do to copy the formula down column B

In my version to copy and fill the column A with an incrementing list 1 to 60, If I follow your method I need to do the following......

I finally got my piece of junk to work. I select 2 top cells, hover over the corner of the selected - when the white cross changes to the black cross, right click, drag, Pick Fill Series from the popup menu.

My version has the popup menu feature also. Sorry, I omitted that.

maybe it's not "a piece of junk" after all.......

Just think what you have learned doing this question......

How to read a worded question and express it as a mathematical sentence or expression....

How to solve this manually...yourself....

How to re-arrange the formula to the form where the ...... result (final percent) = some function based on the input (the ounces of silver added)

How to fill this table manually yourself.....and realise it is very tedious....

How modern spreadsheets can assist in the task....

How to add data and formula to cells in a spreadsheet

How to copy the contents of cells down a column to repeat repetitive tasks.....and realise there are various methods of doing it......
