A fence is to be constructed around a rectangular field. The boards are 12 feet in length and the fence is to be 4 boards high.

Dimensions of field - 660 feet wide and contains 20 acres.

Calculate number of boards needed.

Each section contains 48 feet of boards.

20 acres = 871,200 square feet.

How do I proceed from here ?

The field is wide 660 and we have to find its length:
871,200 : 660 = 1320

The fence has 2 sides with dimensions - 1320 feet x 4 blocks
and 2 sides with dimensions - 660 feet x 4 block

Ever block is 12 feet in length.

So length of the fence has 1320/12 blocks x 4 = 110 x 4 = 440 blocks
and width of the fence has 660 / 12 blocks x 4 = 55 x 4 = 220 blocks

So for the whole fence we need 440 + 220 + 440 + 220 (because it has 4 sides) = 660 + 660 = 1320

First you need to find the perimeter of rectangle
Perimeter of Rectangle = 2 x (length + width)
