To find the bigger fraction we always saw that if denominator of both the numbers are same then we check the numerator, the fraction whose numerator is greater then that fraction is bigger.
If both fractions are dissimilar by denominator then if have to make both denominator similar by multiplying the numerator or denominator by from the denominator of both fraction when the denominator will become similar then we find the bigger fraction.

3/5 is smaller than 4/6.

9/10 is greater than 7/8.

bigger: 3/4 or 2/3?

give the fractions a common denominator
3/4 = 9/12
2/3 = 8/12
9/12 > 8/12 so 3/4 > 2/3

Both fractions are equal since [tex]\frac26 = \frac{2}{2 \cdot 3}= \frac{1}{3}[/tex]

Do you think that dividing is easier than multiplying? I would consider it simpler to say that [tex]\frac{a}{b}< \frac{c}{d}[/tex] if and only [tex]ad< bd[/tex] (any negatives taken as part of the numerators so the denominators are positive).

An interesting approach is this: ask how 5/8 compares with 62/100, say.
Write 5/8 ?? 62/100, where ?? stands for the unknown inequality.
Now we can operate on expressions like this using operations that leave true statements true and false statements false. For example we can multiply both sides by any positive number (negative ones, on the other hand, reverse inequalities, so would not be legitimate), such as 800, which is what we will do.
This gives
500 ?? 496, and it is clear that ?? stands for >. Hence we have 5/8 > 62/100.
I'm not saying this is easier than some of the other approaches, but it's worth thinking how such an approach might be used in wider contexts.

8/10 or 3/4

LCM(10, 4) = 2*2*5 = 20

8/10 = 16/20

3/4 = 15/20

So 8/10 > 3/4

[tex]\frac{37}{100} < \frac{4}{10}[/tex]

Because

[tex]\frac{37}{100} < \frac{40}{100}[/tex]
