Is a function defined at this point continuous?

The sum of two continuous functions are continuous, and the composition of continuous functions is continuous.

So the answer is yes, to both questions.

The only non-continuous function in your questions is tan (all the others are continuous everywhere), and you are looking at tan at the pi/4 point where it is locally continuous, so you are fine.

Hope this helped,
